Wow. Greenpeace. This was one of their better ones. The clip itself with the use of children's hands to get across subliminal messages is very effective. I liked the clip and I can see why you would like this clip. You might ask in the student assignment portion why the use of hands as ocean and as polar ice caps is so effective. But then again maybe on the first run through you do not want to give more prompts than necessary to stifle the flow. Your questions about font, style and so forth does bring the assignment back to what is at least a part of the idea: how do choices the videographer and producer make affect the overall message. I was not totally clear whether that is the assignment - whether this media clip achieves its goal/aim or whether you were after the larger discussion of actually pitting industry with environmentalists and whether such harmony is achievable. At the end of the student assignment I concluded that this latter was actually the focus. So great choice of clip and good assignment. I will offer one more comment: as a parent of a student in middle school, I think giving them a week for the reflection and two more for the assignment is too long. My son would then have a fat zero on i-Parent even though he and I would know that he HAD done the assignment; it would later be found in the bottom of his bookbag along with crumbs and banana peels....
